  1. PROBLEMS
  2. --------

  4. The purpose of this text file is to detail known problems (and their
  5. solutions) with DocMan.
  6.                        
  7. DocMan Manual Installation Instructions
  8. ---------------------------------------
  9.  
  10. If you cannot install DocMan with the supplied "Setup" module, please use
  11. the following procedure to do so:
  12.  
  13. 1) Create a folder where you want to install DocMan.
  14.  
  15. 2) Extract DOCMANxx.ZIP to the newly created folder.  Do not use the contents
  16.    of the folder from your failed installation attempt.  The files in that
  17.    folder can no longer be used (and may be deleted).
  18.  
  19. 3) For each file that has an underscore ("_") as the last character of the
  20.    extension, change the underscore to one of the following values:
  21.  
  22.    ex_ = exe
  23.    hl_ = hlp
  24.    tx_ = txt
  25.    dl_ = dll
  26.  
  27. 4) Move (not copy) CTL3D32.DLL to your system folder, which is usually named
  28.    "c:\Windows\System".
  29.  
  30.    If there is an existing copy of "CTL3D32.DLL", rename it to "CTL3D32.BAK"
  31.    and repeat this step.

  33.    If there is an existing copy of "CTL3D32.DLL" in your Windows folder,
  34.    which is usually named "c:\Windows", rename it to "CTL3D32.BAK".  You
  35.    must have only one copy of this file on your system, and it must reside
  36.    in your system folder.

  38. 5) DocMan is now installed on your computer.  This method of installation
  39.    does not allow you to automatically uninstall DocMan, but you could do
  40.    so manually by erasing the DocMan folder that you created in the first
  41.    step.

  43.    NOTE:  You should never remove CTL3D32.DLL.  It can be used by other
  44.           applications, and removing it may cause them to cease functioning.
  45.           The version of CTL3D32.DLL is the most recently released version
  46.           that will work with Windows95.  There is a newer version (2.26)
  47.           which will only work with WindowsNT.
  48.  
  49. Removable Hard Disks
  50. --------------------

  52. If you have a SyQuest EZ-135 Internal IDE Removable Hard Disk Cartridge,
  53. Windows 95 may generate a "drive x: not ready" or "not ready reading drive
  54. x:" message after inserting a cartridge into the drive while:
  55.  
  56. a) DocMan is present in the system tray -and-
  57.  
  58. b) the AutoRemove feature is active
  59.  
  60. The solution to this problem is to restart the computer.  After you restart,
  61. immediately remove the cartridge and insert it again (before Windows 95
  62. starts).  To avoid this problem, do not use the AutoRemove feature or do
  63. not remove a cartridge while DocMan is present in the system tray.
  64. If you need to switch cartridges, terminate DocMan while it is idle.
